Today we have a region wide ministry where over 300 children are now reaping the benefits of one man’s clear, God-given vision.
Our founder Mr Ahigika Duncan was inspired by Matthew 15:32 where Jesus says, ‘I have compassion for these people – I do not want to send them away hungry’ (NIV)
Elohim focuses on the spiritual, physical, economic and social needs of children in poverty. Our Christian holistic child development program is:
Christ Centered.
Jesus is at the heart of Elohim’s ministry and each child has the opportunity to hear the gospel in an age-appropriate and culturally relevant way.
Child Focused.
Elohim focuses on the individual child and his or her development. A transformed child will inevitably change his or her environment.
Church Based.
The Church is God’s chosen instrument to bring hope and deliver justice to the poor and oppressed. Compassion partners with local Christian churches to equip them for ministry to children.

Jesus Christ is at the heart of Elohim’s ministry. This corporate commitment drives the content of our programs, characterizes the kind of people we hire, and guides our ethics.
We believe we must do more than simply meet the physical needs of the poor. Poverty sends a defeating, painful message into the heart of a child: a message that says, “You don’t matter.” Introducing children to their loving Heavenly Father is the most powerful way of reversing this message.
Every child who participates in Elohim’s program is given the opportunity to learn about Jesus and discover how to develop a lifelong relationship with God. This good news is modeled and shared in age-appropriate and culturally relevant ways — never through coercion.
Elohim’s Statement of Faith
Elohim adheres to the statement of faith established by the World Evangelical Alliance.
We believe in:
The Holy Scriptures, as originally given by God: divinely inspired, infallible, entirely trustworthy and the supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
One God, eternally existent in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Our Lord Jesus Christ, God manifest in the flesh, His virgin birth, His sinless human life, His divine miracles, His vicarious and atoning death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension, His mediatorial work, and His Personal return in power and glory.
The Salvation of lost and sinful man through the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ by faith apart from works, and regeneration by the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the believer is enabled to live a holy life, to witness and work for the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Unity of the Spirit of all true believers, the Church, the Body of Christ.
The Resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life; and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
Elohim Child Development Centers
Elohim’s holistic child development activities take place at our bombo village child development centre. Sometimes activities take place in the schools and church building.
Programme activities vary in detail according to the culture, environment, or needs of the area where the center, school and church are located. However, there are common elements in all Elohim child development centre, school and church which ensure that all Compassion-assisted children are given the greatest opportunity to be released from spiritual, economic, social, emotional and physical poverty.
Children who attend Elohim projects come from a variety of ethnic and religious backgrounds. We help the neediest children in a community regardless of their faith. However the surviving relatives or guardians of children are made aware that Elohim is a Christian organisation.
